The painting is in excellent condition. The varnish has clouded and there are only two small places where the painting needs to be retouched. There are no tears, holes or lifting of the original pigment. Charles F. Gunther of Chicago military collection was exhibited in Omaha, NE when his candy factory and museum were destroyed by fire in 1899. Lininger and Gunther were fellow masons and friends. The painting provenance is from the Lininger Estate Sale of 1927 in Omaha, Nebraska.

Harold R. Wilkins
The mural project took 23 years beginning in 1964 and completed in 1986. There are seven murals 4 1/2' x 9' (approximate size) depicting the west and historic events. The family retains ownership the murals. The plan is to locate all murals in the same building. The artist's original plan was the murals be placed in the Nebraska State Capital building. This plan was vetoed in the 1980s. If interested in viewing the murals, please send an email to info@jgsart.com and the artist's family will contact you.
